New Parity Laws - No Help if You're Self Employed
« on: February 04, 2010, 06:30:19 pm »
We've had a parity law in Pennsylvania since 2008, but the new national law that Obama just passed is the same. It only applies if you work for an employer with more than 50 employees. I own a small struggling company. My insurance covers the meds, but everything else is pretty much nonexistent, or at least it might as well be. There are so many limitations and the copays are so high and there are so few decent providers in our network that it's not even worth it for me to try and see a therapist or a psychiatrist through my insurance.

I don't know what is in the health care reform bill, or if it will even pass, but I hope that someday they'll treat people like me better than they do now.
